Dr. Smeena Khan, M.D.
Dr. Smeena Khan, M.D. is a board-certified dermatologist in practice for almost 15 years. Her areas of special interest are cosmeceuticals and anti-aging treatments, acne and auto-immune skin diseases. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Khan was raised in Montreal, Canada and completed her undergraduate training at McGill University where she was awarded her Bachelors of Science Degree with Honors. She went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine where she was one of only 6 in her class to be inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Her post-graduate training included 3 years of training in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and then 3 years of training in dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania where she was selected from amongst her class to serve as Chief Resident in Dermatology.
Dr. Khan practiced for several years in Dallas at the Baylor University Health Care System and was in private practice in Sterling for 5 years before joining the Dermatology Center of Loudoun.
Dr. Khan has published numerous articles on dermatology in peer-reviewed journals and has written several textbook chapters. She has lectured at the Medical Dermatology Society Annual meeting and was an editor of the online textbook emedicine.com in Dermatology.
Dr. Khan lives with her husband of 24 years and their 5 children in Northern Virginia and is active in the local community. She supports the efforts of the Skin Cancer Foundation by participating in skin cancer screenings and lectures to students about a career in dermatology. She served for 6 years as an officer on her children’s school board and was a Troop Leader for a local Girl Scout Troop. She currently coaches a local middle-school competitive math team. She enjoys running and bicycling with her family, reading and traveling.
